EirGrid Information Day -Wednesday 11th September
Since April 2012 EirGrid have been in regular contact with Kildare people in relation to the Grid Link Project, the proposed power line linking substations in Knockraha Co. Cork and Dunstown, near Kilcullen in Co. Kildare via Great Island in Co. Wexford.
The Grid Link Project is an estimated 500 million euro investment in the South and East region proposed by EirGrid as part of the Grid25 strategy to upgrade the national grid.
The project has reached a significant milestone as EirGrid publishes the Stage 1 Report and for the first time, identifies a number of feasible 1 kilometre wide route corridors which can accommodate this new transmission line, that will provide a platform for economic growth and job creation in the South and East.
Another round of focused public consultation will run from the 3rd September for twelve weeks until Tuesday, 26th November 2013.
EirGrid are holding twelve open days across the region and the Kilcullen information day will give people an opportunity to meet with the project team, view the work which has been carried out to date and share any feedback with the project team. The venue is Kilcullen Heritage Centre, 11th September 1-8pm
The Stage 1 report and maps are published on www.eirgridprojects.com/projects/gridlink.
