Corporate Partners Luncheon
Thursday 29th September
Maynooth University @ 12.30pm
With guest speaker Maynooth University President, Professor Philip Nolan
Professor Philip Nolan earned his degrees in Physiology and Medicine in 1988 and 1991 and a PhD for his research on the control of breathing and the cardiovascular system during sleep all from University College Dublin (UCD). He joined the staff of UCD in 1996. In 2004 he became Registrar and Deputy President at UCD.
In August 2011, Professor Nolan was appointed President of Maynooth University. Early in his tenure he established a new strategy for the University in its research, teaching and engagement activities. He’s also initiated a university-wide effort to re-imagine the University’s undergraduate curriculum. Many of the changes—which range from broader entry routes and language study to increased course flexibility and discipline combinations—are considered sector-leading among Irish higher education institutions.
Prof Nolan is leading the public call to reform Ireland’s third-level entry process, chairing an Irish Universities Association task group on the issue.
