Economy boost for Kildare – Punchestown Festival breaking records
Punchestown Festival is breaking records and the festival will bring in, in excess of €65 million to the local economy. Allan Shine, CEO of the Chamber in Kildare said” I am delighted to see so many of our members are sponsoring races this year at the festival. These members include companies in hospitality, food – agri, professional and financial services and the insurance sector. Hotels are reporting a huge up surge in accommodation bookings, the party atmosphere has already started in Naas with flags, bunting and an array of activities scheduled for the festival. Over 100,000 attended the festival last year. Indicators already show that this number will increase this year”.
The Chamber is also pleased to see that the festival has seen huge interest from visitors abroad. Allan Shine said this morning” Showcasing Kildare is hugely important both locally, nationally and internationally. The Festival gives us the opportunity to promote the county and with increasing visitor numbers attending from the UK in particular, fingers crossed the weather will be on our side so we can all enjoy what promises to be an excellent festival”.
