Pan European Organisation for Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) Elects New Irish Member.
The Annual General Meeting of PEOPIL held in Vienna on the 12th of September 2014 elected Liam Moloney, Solicitor as its new Republic of Ireland Representative to it’s General Board.
Mr Moloney is the Managing Partner of Moloney & Co Solicitors based in Naas Co Kildare. He specialises in personal injury and medical negligence cases.
Welcoming his appointment as the Republic of Ireland’s sole board member Wolfgang Resch the CEO of PEOPIL said today “we are delighted to have someone of Mr Moloney’s experience and stature to represent PEOPIL in the Republic of Ireland and look forward to working with him both in Ireland and the EC in our campaigns for greater access to justice for personal injury victims”.
Mr Resch continued “PEOPIL is a European wide organisation for Lawyers working in the area of personal injury and continues to lobby the European Parliament and Commission to improve cross border access to justice for injury victims. PEOPIL has an important role in promoting fair personal injury laws and consumer protections throughout the EU. We have made many submissions on EC Directives such as Package Holidays, Road Traffic Accident Rules and Rome II”.
Commenting on his appointment Liam Moloney said “I am delighted to have been elected to the Board of PEOPIL whose 450 members continue to develop co-operation between Personal Injury Lawyers within Europe and to promote higher standards of care and safety for consumers throughout the EC”.
Mr Moloney added “the impact of EC Legislation on Personal Injury Law is growing steadily and this creates a greater need for knowledge of European Legislation and a basic understanding of the different member states legislation in this field. There are currently many decisions being made by the European Courts that directly affect Irish Citizens, in particular in cross border accident cases”.

PEOPIL has currently 450 members in 44 different Jurisdictions. PEOPIL was founded in 1996 and formally established as a not-for-profit organisation in 1998 by European Lawyers to improve and promote knowledge of the various Legal and Judicial systems within European Jurisdictions in the field of Personal Injury Law. Membership is open to legal professionals, Lawyers, Judges and Academics and Law Students.
