Athy Area businesses to kick start 2016 with ‘First Friday’ network meetings

One of the main recommendations in the Athy Regeneration Plan published late last year was that an ongoing enterprise awareness programme should be organised as a monthly structured event to encourage Local Enterprise and Commerce. The Athy Enterprise Network, who commissioned the report are pleased to announce that on the ‘First Friday’ of each month in 2016, commencing on 5th February 2016, an Athy Area business network meeting will take place in the Clanard Court Hotel from 12.45 – 2.00pm. The meetings are being hosted in association with the North Kildare Chamber of Commerce who facilitate similar events in Naas and Celbridge.

On each alternate month the meetings will be addressed by some of the main employers in the Athy area and are open to all business people with premises in the Athy Municipal District including outlying agri-business operators. The first ‘First Friday’ will hear a presentation from Val Hibbits, Operations and Logistics Manager with Atlantic Industries. On the intervening months speakers will be provided on a range of business issues from Social Media to employment legislation and the subjects will develop in response to the interests of local business.

Adrian Conlan, Chair of the Local Enterprise and Commerce sub-committee of the Athy Enterprise Network in welcoming the ‘First Fridays’ said, “This is a great opportunity for businesses in the Athy and south Kildare area to get together in a positive and constructive manner and find out more about each other and ways of working together to bring about mutually beneficial development”.

Vivian Cummins, the Athy-based President of the North Kildare Chamber of Commerce said, “We’re delighted to be able to cooperate with the Athy Enterprise Network in this way and I hope the ‘First Fridays’ will be as successful as the similar meetings we host in Naas and Celbridge. It’s only by working together and sharing information that we will be able to help firms to protect existing jobs and support each other in creating new ones”.
