Kildare County Council have undertaken to carry out Town & Village Health Checks in 4 Kildare Towns in the coming weeks. As part of this process Cathal O’Meara Landscape Architects with support from Kildare Public Participation Network (PPN) will be holding public meetings to capture community needs.
The 4 towns are Clane, Prosperous, Maynooth and Kilcock
Members of the public and local community and voluntary groups are invited to participate in a collaborative process to create The Health Checks and associated Plans.
Sustaining the viability and vitality of urban centers is a primary objective of the Retail Planning Guidelines. According to the guidelines, town vitality and viability effectively rely on four qualities; accessibility, attraction and amenity supported by action
The guidelines advocate that town centers undergo a periodic and consistently measured “health check” assessing the balance of the four qualities. An initial Health Check should form the baseline against which future Health Checks are measured to review performance. Health Checks in time series then provide a systematic assessment of strengths and weaknesses to inform Local Authority programmes and locally driven actions plans.
The following are the times and dates of the initial meetings
Location . Date . Venue Time
Clane Wednesday 02 May . Parish Office Unit 2. 8pm
Kilcock Thursday 03 May Kilcock Scout Hall . 8pm
Prosperous . Wednesday 09 May . Venue to be confirmed 8pm
Maynooth . Thursday 10 May . Maynooth PPS 8pm
